The Department of New Media and Communication at Ibn Haldun University hosted TVNETX Administrative Producer Enes Dönmez on December 1 for an engaging and insightful seminar on Digital and Visual Storytelling. The event brought together students interested in learning how to build strong narratives for both documentary work and short-form digital content.
In his talk, Enes Dönmez focused on the Hero’s Journey, one of the most well-known narrative frameworks. He explained how this structure can be used not only in dramatic films but also in journalism to capture audience attention and communicate messages more effectively. Through contemporary examples, he showed how classical storytelling principles can be adapted for today’s digital formats.
Dönmez also highlighted the importance of understanding basic technical processes for anyone working in new media. Even if a producer is not the one editing a video, knowing how the technical workflow functions helps them plan the story more accurately and bring their creative vision to life more clearly.
Toward the end of the seminar, he shared his own career path, explaining how his academic background in political science continues to shape his perspective and narrative choices in the content he produces today.
The program concluded with a Q&A session, giving students the opportunity to delve deeper into the topics and ask their questions.
