Postdoctoral researcher Assist. Prof. Nadile Gözgöz Çiydem’s book titled “Aynı Denklemde İki Yabancı: Aktivistler ve Halkla İlişkiler” has been published.

The new book titled “Aynı Denklemde İki Yabancı: Aktivistler ve Halkla İlişkiler” by Assist. Prof. Nadile Gözgöz Çiydem, one of the postdoctoral researchers at our faculty, has been published in May 2026 from Nobel Bilimsel Eserler publishing. The book focuses on public relations, activism, and communication ethics.

In today’s dynamic communication ecosystem, the question of whether public relations is merely a technical tool that manages institutional image, or whether it should be positioned as an active agent of social change and democratic deliberation, forms the central axis of the book’s discussion. In her study, Assist. Prof. Çiydem examines the traditional and critical roles attributed to the discipline of public relations within a broad framework, ranging from management to activism, and from observation to truth management.

The book reveals, through field data, the differences between the ideal roles defined by public relations theorists and the practical realities in Türkiye. Based on in-depth interviews, the research opens up for discussion the structural barriers that public relations professionals encounter in their communication with activists, the impact of economic concerns on truth, and the background of strategies such as “remaining silent”.

At a time when activism is compelling institutions to transform, this study invites readers to reconsider public relations not only as a corporate communication practice, but also in relation to power, ethics, dialogue, and social responsibility. The book makes an important contribution for both academics and communication professionals seeking to understand the current transformation of public relations.

We congratulate Assist. Prof. Nadile Gözgöz Çiydem on this valuable academic work and wish her continued success.
