A New Book by Our Faculty of Communication Academicians: Perception and Reality in the Digital Age
Our academicians Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Karanfiloğlu and Asst. Prof. Kübra Kulaklıkaya wrote a new book titled “Perception and Reality in the Digital Age”.

A new book titled “Perception and Reality in the Digital Age” which offers a comprehensive framework for understanding how disinformation is strategically produced, circulated, and legitimized in contemporary digital communication environments, and authored by Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Karanfiloğlu and Asst. Prof. Kübra Kulaklıkaya, academics at the Ibn Haldun University Faculty of Communication is published online on Springer.

The book analyses how disinformation gains power not only at the level of content but also through platform logics, algorithmic systems, and emotionally resonant narratives. While focusing on how new media shapes public perception and psychological responses, it makes visible the cognitive and affective vulnerabilities that render users susceptible to manipulative content, such as bias, emotional engagement, and perception management, through an interdisciplinary approach that integrates communication psychology with media theory.

With its interdisciplinary scope, the book stands as an important reference for scholars, students, policymakers, media professionals, and educators, helping them grasp the dynamics of disinformation in the digital age, particularly in terms of its psychological and structural dimensions.
