Prof. İsmail Arda Odabaşı’s “Sinematograf” Meets Audiences with Its New Season on TRT2

“Sinematograf”, the TV program in which Prof. İsmail Arda Odabaşı, Dean of our School of Communication, explores the early years of Turkish cinema, returns for a new season on TRT2.
The program will air every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. from 13 October. Hosted by Ayşe Betül Kayahan, it examines the history of cinema in Türkiye through film stills and archival documents.
Covering Türkiye’s early cinematic life from the first film screenings to movie theatres, audience experiences to film production, cinema culture to film publications, and producers to directors, the program critically re-examines established accounts of cinema history.
Its first three seasons, comprising 39 episodes, are also used as teaching materials in communication faculties. In “Sinematograf”, Prof. Odabaşı explores not only cinema’s technical development but also its social and cultural dimensions.
