Our Faculty of Communication hosted the seminar titled “Real or Fiction? Disinformation and Verification in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”, organized by Anadolu Agency’s Teyit Hattı as part of its university programs.
Held on 5 May 2026 Tuesday, at the Faculty of Communication under the coordination of Assist. Prof. Ali Kıvrak, the program addressed the growing importance of accessing accurate information as AI-generated content increasingly circulates on social media. The seminar focused on how misleading content shared on digital platforms is analyzed, the verification techniques used to detect AI-generated images, and open-source investigation methods.
Ömer Faruk Görçin, Director of Anadolu Agency’s Teyit Hattı, and Ayşenur Cevahiroğlu, Anadolu Agency Teyit Hattı reporter, attended the program as speakers. Through examples of rapidly spreading disinformation on social media, Görçin and Cevahiroğlu explained digital verification processes and provided students with insights into practical fact-checking methods.
The program also discussed the effects of disinformation on the media, the transformation of journalism in the age of artificial intelligence, and why a culture of verification has become increasingly critical. Throughout the seminar, students had the opportunity to ask their questions directly to the speakers.
At the end of the event, appreciation gifts were presented to the Anadolu Agency Teyit Hattı team for their contributions to the program.
