The Digital Journalism Training organized by Anadolu Agency officially began on December 2, 2025, with its first session titled Digital Literacy for Journalists, held at the Istanbul International News Center.
The opening lecture was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Karanfiloğlu, Head of the Department of New Media and Communication at Ibn Haldun University. In his session, Karanfiloğlu addressed the transformation of news production in the digital age through topics such as “Algorithms, Self-Identity-Meaning Regimes and the Power of Information,” “Algorithms: Invisible Editing,” “Meaning Construction in Journalism,” and “Responsibilities of the Journalist.” He emphasized how social media and algorithmic systems shape identity and perception by tailoring content to user interests, highlighting the increasing risks of manipulation within digital environments.
The training program aims to equip participants with a broad set of skills, including digital literacy, news value assessment, platform-specific content production, strategic planning, digital news editing, data visualization, and the use of artificial intelligence.
Throughout December and January, the program will continue with multiple sessions designed to strengthen digital media professionals both in practical production skills and in developing the ethical awareness required in today’s rapidly evolving media landscape.
