TRT’s “From Idea to Screen” Seminar Series Launched
The first session of the "From Idea to Screen: Story, Production and Marketing on Digital Platforms" Seminar Series, organized by our School of Communication in collaboration with TRT tabii, was held in our Media Center with the broad participation of our students.

Ibn Haldun University hosted the opening session of the "From Idea to Screen: Story, Production and Marketing on Digital Platforms" Seminar Series, held in collaboration with TRT tabii on 18 November at Media Center Shreen Abu Akleeh Studio. The session offered participants a wide-ranging look at today’s digital broadcasting landscape, bringing together strategic insights and technical perspectives through presentations by Strategy and Planning Manager Furkan Kınık and Product Management Team Leader Özer Öcek.

Digital Platforms on the Rise: tabii’s Place in a Growing Global Market

In his presentation, Furkan Kınık outlined the rapid global expansion of digital platforms with up-to-date market figures. He highlighted the OTT video market surpassing 300 billion dollars, the evolution of SVOD and AVOD business models, and the continued rise in global subscriber numbers.

Kınık also discussed tabii’s strengthening position within Turkey’s growing digital platform ecosystem. Emphasizing the platform’s dual mission, he noted: “We aim to share our cultural values with audiences worldwide while offering a strong and competitive presence in the digital streaming market.”

A Unified Approach: Product, Experience and Technology

Taking the stage next, Özer Öcek focused on the product development and user experience processes that form the operational backbone of digital platforms. He underlined that a platform’s success depends on the seamless integration of content, user experience, and technological infrastructure. Describing the product life cycle as a continuous loop, Öcek walked participants through the stages of identifying user needs, shaping strategic roadmaps, designing UX/UI, developing features, and running quality tests. He further explained how user data informs content decisions, how personalisation elevates viewer engagement, and why robust backend technologies are essential for a smooth and uninterrupted viewing experience.

Participants showed great interest throughout the session, which effectively bridged the strategic and technical dimensions of the digital broadcasting industry. The presentations provided valuable information to students and young professionals aiming to build a career in this rapidly evolving field.

The seminar series will continue in the coming weeks, with sessions on script analysis, production management, localisation workflows, and marketing strategies.
