This year, short films featuring humanitarian themes from around the world competed in the festival. The event began with a panel discussion featuring Bosnian director Aida Begic, TRT World Citizen Communication Director Faysal Sosyal, director Abdulhamit Güler, and Jordanian director Darin J. Sallam. The panel addressed significant questions such as "What makes a film humanitarian, and what elements define a humanitarian film?" The panelists answered questions from the audience and shared valuable insights on directing and producing films.
Before the award ceremony, a total of nine short films competing in the festival were screened. These films, characterized by their ability to convey powerful emotions with a single script and character, included standout animations. Workshops held between screenings offered participants valuable experiences. Veteran actor Olgun Şimşek conducted an acting workshop, while Büşra Bülbül and Sina Salimi hosted a film reading workshop.
Given that the films addressed universal human emotions and shared struggles, the impact of war on individuals was a prominent theme. The Palestinian issue emerged as a common message both in the panel discussions and in the films, highlighting the challenges faced by people in that region. Additionally, political musician The Undercover Hippy performed an unforgettable set, paying tribute to civilians who lost their lives in Palestine.
The TRT World Citizen Humanitarian Film Festival, which gave students the opportunity to meet and learn from prominent figures, served as both an inspiring and educational experience for participants.
