Ibn Haldun University Media Center organized a program titled "Humanitarian Crisis in Palestine; Current Situation and Beyond." The program was held on Tuesday, October 24 at IHU Media Center Shireen Abu Akleh Studio. Dr. Ahmet Yusuf Özdemir, Lecturer at the Department of Political Science and International Relations of our University, made a speech. In the program moderated by research assistant Kaan Şentürk, the latest situation in Palestine was discussed and the students of our University were informed about the latest developments.
Dr. Özdemir pointed out that the occupation and massacres in Palestine are one of the most important events of this century. Dr. Özdemir also stated that he thinks that describing the events that have been going on in Palestine since October 7 as a humanitarian drama does not do justice to what is happening. Dr. Özdemir added that what is happening in Palestine is not a humanitarian drama or crisis, but a genocide, and emphasized that the word "genocide" is not a sloganic description, and that the experts who examined what happened in Srebrenica in 1995 also evaluated the situation in Palestine in this way.
Dr. Özdemir concluded his speech by stating that the United Nations is no longer as effective as it used to be and that it does not serve the purpose of its establishment, and that the veto power of the United Nations leads to blockage on some issues.
