Producer Mahmut Islam Bilir shared his experiences with future filmmakers at the event titled "From Idea to Practice: Short Film Production", where he came together with Ibn Haldun University students, producers and directors at the Faculty of Management Sciences and explained the basics of short film production.
Mahmut Islam Bilir, who has worked as a producer and executive producer in projects such as Şanzelize Düğün Salonu (2023), Horoz Dövüşü (2022), Hayırlı Olsun Ziyareti (2023), as well as in many short film and feature film projects, started his speech by explaining which positions are included in the production team of a film project and explained to the participants at which stage of the project the tasks followed by the people in these positions start and the critical points in these tasks.
Mahmut Islam Bilir discussed the intricacies of preparing the boucle or presentation file of a film project, which includes basic components such as logline, synopsis, treatment, moodboard and director/producer's opinion, and asked the directors and producers among the participants of the event what they pay attention to in the boucle they prepare for their own projects.
Bilir also touched upon the importance of production support for short filmmakers and emphasized the increase in the number of organizations providing short film production support in Turkey in recent years. Bilir added that there has been a significant increase in the amount of production support and stated that it is very important for those who will apply for short film production support to carefully prepare a detailed budget plan. Answering questions from the students, Mahmut Islam Bilir concluded his speech by explaining in detail how he created the detailed budget plan of a project that he had won production support.
The event took place in an interactive atmosphere where the participants had the opportunity to ask Bilir questions about short film production.
