Ibn Haldun University Media Center Short Film Competition Winners Announced
The results of the IHU Media Center Short Film Competition have been announced.

The results of the IHU Media Center Short Film Competition held as part of the Digital Media Research and Visual Arts Academy project, have been announced.

The application period of competition which aims to contribute to the training of young filmmakers started on December 1, 2022, and ended on April 23, 2023. After the first evaluations, 9 films made it to the finals. The award ceremony of the IHU Media Center Short Film Competition was held on Wednesday, May 10 at Student Center Activity Hall.

In the first part of the program, screening and Q&A sessions were held with award-winning directors. After the screening of the short documentary “Yeni Baştan”, Director Taha Ovacı answered questions from the audience under the moderation of Yusuf Faruk Tunç. Another short film that was screened was “Kuş Dili”. After watching the movie, Director Mehmet Akif Güler answered questions of the moderator Kaan Şentürk and the audience.

After the screening and Q&A sessions, the award ceremony took place. Our Rector Prof. Dr. Atilla Arkan, Dean of the School of Communication İzzet Bozkurt, and Istanbul Development Agency General Secretary İsmail Erkam Tüzgen attended the award ceremony. Following the talk by Cinema Writer İhsan Kabil on Turkish Cinema, the winner short films were announced.

Semih Sağman won the first prize with his “Gulab Gul” documentary film. Seyithan Kartal won second place with “Çamur”, another short documentary, and Abdullah Şahin won third place with “Hemnefe”s. Orhan Dede received the Shireen Abu Akhal Special Award for his documentary called “Arayış”, and Sezgin Yüzay won the Special Jury Award with his film “Koku”.
